Los Fresnos CISD Earns 2015 Fiscal Accountability Rating
- Updated: November 13, 2015
Los Fresnos CISD has received a passing rating at Texas’ Schools FIRST financial accountability rating system, the highest rating possible for the 11th consecutive year.
This year, the district received a rating a “P” for passed, demonstrating the quality of Los Fresnos CISD’s financial management and reporting system. Los Fresnos CISD scored a perfect 30 points in the ratings. A passing score was 16 points.
For 10 years previous, Los Fresnos CISD received the Superior Achievement rating, which was the highest.
Changes to the School FIRST system were implemented by TEA in August 2015 that combined financial indicators with financial solvency indicators, in accordance with House Bill 5, 83rd Texas Legislature, Regular Session, 2013.
The primary goal of School FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts’ financial resources, a goal made more significant due to the complexity of accounting associated with the Texas school finance system.
Under the new system, TEA now issues School FIRST a two-tier rating system of either “P” for “Pass” or “F” for Substandard Achievement” for the 2014-2015 rating year.
