Escareno, Trevino Named New Assistant Principals

Ramon Escareño and Laura Treviño were approved for Assistant Principal positions by the Los Fresnos CISD Board of Trustees at its meeting last Monday.
Escareño was named Assistant Principal at Resaca Middle School and Trevino was named to the same position at Dora Romero Elementary.
In the only other hiring made official Monday, Felix Jimenez was named Special Education teacher at Liberty Memorial Middle School.
There were public hearing on two items Monday: the Tax Code Chapter 313 Application for Appraised Value Limitation and the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST).
Acciona Energy, a global leader in renewable energy, presented about the San Roman Wind Project, a 93-megawatt facility located south of Bayview and north of Texas Highway 100. A representative of Moak, Casey and Associates briefed the board on the estimated financial impact of the project.
David Young, Chief Financial Officer, presented the 2015 FIRST report, which showed that Los Fresnos CISD received the state’s highest fiscal accountability rating for the 13th straight year. This was the first year for a new rating system that consists of only “Pass” and “Substandard” ratings.
Ben Estrada, Director of Assessment, presented the district’s Performance-Based Monitoring Analysis System (PBMAS) report.
The 2015-16 Highly Qualified Teacher Report showed that 100 percent of Los Fresnos CISD teachers were highly qualified in every category of the report. The following District Reports were also presented:
