Hundreds of veterans were special guests at nine Veterans’ Day ceremonies at Los Fresnos CISD schools Wednesday.
Veterans were parents and grandparents of students at their respective schools. Numerous women who served in the military also attended, and veterans who had no parental affiliations to the schools came to schools as guests.
Schools also honored faculty and staff members who were veterans.
Participating schools were six elementary schools – Lopez-Riggins, Los Fresnos, Olmito, Palmer-Laakso, Rancho Verde, and Dora Romero – and the district’s three middle schools – Liberty Memorial, Los Cuates and Resaca.
The Los Fresnos High School Navy JROTC Color Guard participated in seven ceremonies. At each one, they presented the colors for the singing or playing of the National Anthems. The NJROTC armed and unarmed drill teams also performed to the delight of the students.
