Eighth Grade Parents Invited to Graduation Endorsement Sessions
- Updated: November 27, 2015
Parents of eighth grade students are strongly encouraged to attend one of three Graduation Endorsement Selection Sessions Dec. 7, 8 and 10.
Eighth grade students at the three Los Fresnos CISD middle schools have been receiving information about the endorsements and pathways to select. They have been shown their endorsements options matching their areas of interest.
At the presentations, parents will sign and submit their preliminary Endorsements for their children. The pre-registration process begins in January for incoming ninth grade students.
House Bill 5 passed in 2014-15 specifies that all students must select an endorsement prior to entering high school. Within each endorsement, students may select a career specialization. Students may enroll in more than one endorsement before the junior year, and may choose to earn an endorsement other than the endorsement the student previously selected.
The four Endorsements and Pathways include:
Business and Industry: Pathways include Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Welding, Audio/Video technology and Communications, Business Management, and Information Technology
Arts and Humanities: English, Fine Arts, LOTE (Languages Other Than English) and Social Studies
Public Services: Education and Human Services, Health Science, NJROTC, and Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM): Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
