Salazar Named to TMEA Class 6A All-State Band
- Updated: January 22, 2016
Los Fresnos High School percussionist Edric Salazar
Edric Salazar has been selected to the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Band.
At the Area G Audition Saturday in Alice, Salazar was one of the top 10 percussionists, earning him a placement among the top 2 percent of band students state-wide.
Area G includes Texas Music Education Association (TMEA) regions 13, 14, 15 and 28. The area includes a region southwest of Houston to include Victoria, and an area that includes Corpus Christi, Laredo, and the rest of south Texas and the Rio Grande Valley.
Five other students – Fabiola Ahuja, David Arredondo, Felicia Garza, Eric Sanchez and Ashley Treviño – also competed in the Area round. The six were named to the All-Area band and were among 40 LFHS band students chosen for the All-Region Band.
Salazar will now participate in the TMEA Clinic Convention Feb. 10-13 in San Antonio, where he and other All-State selections will perform. Rehearsals will take place throughout the week and will culminate with a concert on Saturday, Feb. 13.
