Students Gather Under Same Ceiling for Middle Schools United

Students from the three Los Fresnos CISD middle schools got together by grade levels for Middle Schools United, an activity that featured Drum Café and talented high school performers.
Sixth, seventh and eighth graders from Liberty Memorial Middle School, Los Cuates Middle School and Resaca Middle School gathered in separate assemblies by grade level at Los Fresnos United ninth grade campus Wednesday and Thursday.
It was the first time they were brought together. They got to visit the campus where they will be attending ninth and tenth grades. They are the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022, and each grade level has between 800 to 900 students.
“We’re showcasing activities that are available at the high school while promoting a message of unity and acceptance,” said Valerie Londrie, Executive Director of Academics, who hopes to make this an annual event for middle school students.
Drum Café, a team-building company that was also showcased at the district’s Convocation last August, had 900 drums for students to participate.
Also featured were students from Los Fresnos High School in various activities. Groups performing included the NJROTC, Mariachi, Folklórico and Conjunto Halcón.
Students learned about the options to participate in one of the groups when they reach ninth grade.
