LFHS Robotics Team Qualifies for State Competition
- Updated: February 23, 2016
The Los Fresnos High School Robotics FTC Team 6816 took top honors in the FIRST Tech Challenge Qualifying Tournament at Pharr on Saturday, February 6th.
Team 6816 – made up of Jennifer Juany Barron, Rosalinda Barron, Isaac Escareño, Michelle Kasey, Isaiah Matthew Martinez, and Matthew Zepeda – qualified for the Alamo FTC Competition in San Antonio Feb. 20-21.
Team 6816 won PTC Design Award, which recognizes design elements of the robot that are both functional and aesthetic. All successful robots have innovative design aspects; however, the PTC Design Award is presented to teams that incorporate industrial design elements into their solution.
These design elements could simplify the robot’s appearance by giving it a clean look, be decorative in nature, or otherwise express the creativity of the team. The winning design should not compromise the practical operation of the robot but complement its purpose.
The LFHS Team 10649 – made up of Laura Alberto Alvarez and Jesus Mendoza – placed fifth in the competition.
