Patrick Brown has been named to the position of Athletic Director/Head Football Coach at Los Fresnos High School.
The Los Fresnos CISD Board of Trustees approved the position at a Special Called meeting Monday.
Brown has 17 years coaching experience at successful programs in El Paso and San Antonio, including four years as a head coach/athletic coordinator, and has an overall head coaching record of 34-12.
“It’s an incredible opportunity in a prestigious school district,” Brown said. “It’s the best job in the Valley and one of the best in the state. This is something that I couldn’t pass up. I spoke to a lot of coaches and athletic directors and they all spoke highly of this district. It’s a special place.”
Brown comes to Los Fresnos after one season as Head Football Coach/Athletic Coordinator at Sam Houston High School in San Antonio. The Hurricanes won the District 28-5A championship and finished the year with a 10-1 record.
The 10-win season was the first for the school since 1989. The team’s grade-point average was the highest of any extracurricular group at the school.
Previously, Brown served as Head Football Coach/Athletic Coordinator at Andress High School in El Paso for three years. From 2012-15, the Eagles went 24-11 with two bi-district championships. Brown’s teams went 7-5 in 2012, 8-3 in 2013 and 9-3 in 2014. Three of Brown’s student-athletes earned NCAA Division I scholarships.
His previous positions were all in the El Paso area. After two years in middle school, he was assistant head coach at Chapin High School from 2001-07, and offensive coordinator at Franklin High School from 2007-12.
A native of Austin, Brown received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at El Paso in 1999. He has attended numerous professional development clinics and holds memberships in three professional organizations.
