Delilah Invites You to Get Your Grub On for Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness
- Updated: March 18, 2016
March 4, 2006 may have been just an ordinary day for you and I but not for Delilah Marquez who suffered traumatic brain injury resulting from a tumor which caused her to be hospitalized for one and one half years. “It was the worst day of my life” said Maribel Telles, Delilah’s mother, regarding the day their lives were turned upside down.
Life after that had become a constant daily struggle for Delilah, her parents, and family. Originally Delilah was given 6 weeks at best according to Maribel but it has been 10 years now that Delilah has kept fighting to live.
“My husband told me don’t cry for “lila” as if she’s dead, but that she’s alive” said Maribel.
TBI affects all walks of life including our men and women who serve our country. On March 19, 2016, which also corresponds with St. Joseph’s Day, an invitation is extended to celebrate life and raise awareness for TBI from 11 a.m. until the food is gone at Delilah’s Grub located at 321 W. Ocean Blvd.
Chicken plates will be served for a $5 donation, bracelets and T-shirts will also be given away for a small donation for TBI Awareness.
