On Saturday, April 16th, the Community Centennial Celebration delivered on its promise – to be an activity that was fun for people of all ages.
From infants in strollers to 94-year-old Evelyn Kyle Carrell, Saturday’s celebration had more than four hours of activities for everyone. There were performances on three stages, activities around the Leo Aguilar Memorial
Stadium track, and in the adjacent Kids’ Zone.
Thirty vehicles entered the Antique and Classic Car Show at the Los Fresnos Elementary School playground across the parking lot from the stadium.
Eli Aguirre, who showed a 1965 Shelby Cobra, was the winner in the Best of Show and People’s Choice awards.
Others winning awards and bragging rights included:
Best of Show: 2nd place, Villafranca Collection, 1955 Chevy Apache
Best of Show: 3rd place, Roy Leal, 1932 Plymouth Coupe
People’s Choice: 2nd place, Thomas Alexander Sanchez, 1931 Ford Model A
People’s Choice: 3rd place, Joseph Anthony Ceballos, 1967 Chevy Camaro.
