Teachers, Media Specialist Hired for 2016-17 School Year

A Media Specialist and two teachers for the 2016-17 academic year were approved by the Los Fresnos CISD Board of Trustees at their meeting last Monday.
Approved were: Tina L. Burnias, Media Specialist, Las Yescas Elementary School; Avery Danielson, Speech Teacher, Los Fresnos United; Javier Martinez Garza, Engineering Teacher, Los Fresnos High School.
Nine student groups from Los Fresnos High School were recognized by the board for their achievements during the school year: DECA, VITA, Falcon Law, Robotics, Tennis regional qualifier, the Girls’ and Boys’ powerlifting teams, Girls’ and Boys’ track teams, Baseball team, and Mariachi Nuevo Halcón.
Under action items, the board approved the following: Revisions to Board Operating Procedures; CSP #15-16-37, High School Pavement Rehabilitation, Including Alternate #1, to R and R Paving, LLC; Application for Expedited and General State Waivers; Two Early Release Days for School Year 2016-2017 (October 21 for Parent Academic Conferences and May 25 for last day of classes); Request For One Additional Staff Development Day for School Year 2016-2017 (Jan. 6); Revise Board Policy CH (Local) and CV (Local) – Adopted in 1st Reading; Employment Contracts for School Years 2016-2017 and 2017-2018: Administrative Staff Contract Recommendations; Employment Contracts for the 2016-2017 School Year: Campus Professional Staff Contract Recommendations
On the Consent agenda, the board approved the following: Minutes for Meetings held on April 4, 2016 and April 28, 2016; Budget Amendment #11 for Fiscal Year 2015-2016.
Ad-Valorem Tax Refunds for April 2016; Agreements/Contracts With E-Rate Vendors AT&T, SmartCom Telephone, LLC, and Foremost Telecommunications for Telecommunications, Internet Access and Internet Transport for Funding Year 2016; Texas State Technical College Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Dual Enrollment Programs for the 2016-2017 School Year; Texas A&M University-Kingsville Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Dual Enrollment Programs for the 2016-2017 School Year.
Add, Revise or Delete LOCAL Policies as Recommended by TASB Policy Service and According to the Instruction Sheet for the TASB Localized Policy Manual Update 104 – First Reading; 2016-2017 Work Calendar for 260-day employees.
The Board also received the following reports: Financial Reports: Portfolio Report, Tax Collection Report, Summary Revenue and Expenditure Status Reports, Monthly Disbursements, Budget Adjustments, Budget and Tax Calendar 2016-2017 and Election Calendar for November 8, 2016 Uniform Election Date
