Migrant Students Receive Free School Supplies

Students from about 110 eligible migrant families received free school supplies from the Los Fresnos CISD Migrant Office.
Eligible migrant students (not immigrant) who are registered to attend Los Fresnos CISD in 2016-17. The parents and child(ren) have made a qualifying migratory (i.e. beef/poultry/fishery/dairy) move in order to be identified as a migrant student.
The school supplies are funded through federal funds from the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) under Title I, Part C Migrant funds awarded to the district.
Distribution of supplies were from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 12, at the Los Fresnos CISD College, Career and Technology Academy (CCTA) Building. The JCPenney store in Brownsville donated bags for the supplies.
