Project Lead the Way launched for fourth-grade students in the Los Fresnos CISD, and students were all smiles to begin work on the hands-on projects.
The fourth graders were the first group of elementary school students to take part in PLTW. Their activity started on Monday and will run for two weeks.
Other grade levels will take part on PLTW activities for two-week periods later in the semester.
At Las Yescas Elementary, where fourth-grade classes are departmentalized, students took part in PLTW activities with teacher Victoria Valdez, who teaches science to all fourth-grade students.
“For the first two days, they did a reading component to study the objective of energy,” principal Oscar de la Rosa said. “They are very excited about these projects, because it involves a lot of hands-on work.”
The objective for fourth-graders was to build a toy bicycle using parts in an activity kit.
