A Chinese delegation visited Los Fresnos as part of a collaborative effort by the Los Fresnos Area Chamber of Commerce, the Community Development Corporation of Los Fresnos and Audubon Texas Coastal Conservation Program.

The focus of the visit was to display and promote what Los Fresnos and the immediate surrounding areas have to offer birding enthusiasts and ecotourists. The Chamber of Commerce and CDC have been working diligently with the “Discover Los Fresnos, Texas” campaign which highlights up to thirteen different points of interest within a 25 mile radius of Los Fresnos. The visiting delegates were treated to an elegant dinner, a generous and personally hospitable gesture by Val and Suzanne Champion and catered by Julia’s Restaurant.

Other local businesses such as the Los Fresnos Inn & Suites welcomed the delegates. Stanford Knowles of K+ Architect, Inc and Holiday RV Park provided a boat tour which gave the delegates an up close and personal (from 50+ yards away, though, as emphasized by Victoria Vasquez, Coastal Conservation Program Manager for Audubon Texas) look at local wildlife including the many species of birds which inhabit the area.

The delegation is a connection between Texas and Asia as stated by Oliver Yang, International Marketing Specialist at Office of Governor State of Texas. “I am not from Texas but I got here as fast as I can” said Yang when addressing the dinner party. The atmosphere was that of family and the visiting delegates were welcomed and treated as such.
