Annice Garza, principal at Liberty Memorial Middle School, is one of seven state recipients of the CATCH Champion Award for her untiring dedication to creating healthy environments for the children of Texas.
CATCH is an acronym for a Coordinated Approach To Child Health and is a highly effective health, physical activity, and nutrition education program for children from all backgrounds.
The award was presented at the 93rd Annual Texas Association of Health, Physical and Recreation Convention in December at Galveston.
Every year at the TAHPERD conference, the CATCH Champion Award recognizes individuals for their untiring dedication to create healthy environments for the children in Texas. The Living Legacy Award honors a past CATCH Champion and celebrates their legacy.
The purpose of the award is to support the mission and goals of the CATCH Program by recognizing and promoting exemplary contributions to child health in Texas.
Garza is the second recipient of the award from the Los Fresnos CISD in the last two years. Olmito Elementary physical education teacher Julio Araiza received the award last year.
