Tri-Chamber Delegation Takes “Rio Grande International Trade Day at the Capital” Trip to Austin
- Updated: April 7, 2017

(L-R) Santa Rosa Mayor – Andres Contreras, Uriel Marcus, Ray Gonzalez, Lydell Gonzalez, LRGVHC – Tony Gutierrez, Pastor – Ray Ellington, Combes Mayor – Mark Sanchez, Raymondville Mayor – Gilbert Gonzales, Salomon Torres, and Ron Whitlock.
On March 29, 2017 a delegation from the Rio Grande Valley, primarily comprised of delegates from the Lower Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Camara de Comercio Internacional, headed to the State Capital in Austin via charter bus to inform Texas State leaders of the need to advocate the economic future of the border region of Texas. The trip was prompted by new federal government initiatives that may be issued in 2017 that could cause insurmountable income and business disruptions along the border. The purpose of the “Rio Grande International Trade Day at the Capital” was to request the Governer and the Texas Legislature to support trade with Mexico, support border law enforcement, and support quality of life in small cities along the border.
