LFVFD Bayview Substation Dubbed the “Meyn” Station

Substation Dedicated To The Memory Of David And Richard Meyn
Story and photos by Victor Moreno/LFN
David and Richard Meyn were an integral part of the Los Fresnos Volunteer Fire Department. They dedicated a large part of their lives to the Department and helped forge it into the department it is today. They also gave so much to their families and communities they served, especially the Town of Bayview.
Because of their dedication to the Town of Bayview, and the Los Fresnos Volunteer Fire Department, it was only fitting that the substation located at 104 South San Roman Road in Bayview be dedicated to the memory of these two great gentlemen, David and Richard Meyn.
The substation was affectionately dubbed the “Meyn” station by the Town of Bayview, the Los Fresnos Volunteer Fire Department and family and friends of David and Richard. The dedication ceremony was held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 which included a welcome from Bayview Mayor Gary E. Paris, a flag presentation by the Brownsville Fire Department Honor Guard, and guest speakers Tom Hushen of Cameron County EMC and Mark Milum, Los Fresnos City Manager.
Mark shared some memorable stories of David and Richard and took the audience on a trip down memory lane and once having to take an extended pause half way through to settle his emotions.
It was evident from all in attendance that David and Richard were highly considered. The event finalized with a ribbon cutting by Ann Meyn and Melba Meyn with the help of the Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce.
