The Los Fresnos Rodeo Grounds will be home to its 1st Annual ‘Smokin Hwy 100 Cook-Off Shootout and Festival’ from Friday noon, November 17, 2017 to Saturday night, November 18, 2017. The event will be located at the Los Fresnos Rodeo Grounds, 500 E. Ocean Blvd.
The event is first of its kind for Los Fresnos and for the Los Fresnos Rodeo Grounds which usually sits unused for most of the year with the only exception being the annual rodeo & livestock show possibly making this event the beginning of many new events to come to the rodeo grounds.
The event will feature International Bar-B-Que Cookers Association (IBCA) meats and rules. The IBCA has set their entry fee at $150 with a $25 jackpot fee for each entrant, and a guaranteed $5,000 cash payout. Qualifying IBCA meats consist of brisket, pork spare ribs, and chicken and winners up to 5th place will receive cash prizes! Proceeds will go towards an annual scholarship awarded by the Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee.
Setup begins before noon on Friday, November 17, 2017 for the cook-off competitors. The general public can expect a great turnout with live music bands on both Friday and Saturday. There will also be vendors selling t-shirts and possible entertainment for the kids with bouncers, arts and crafts, and many more!
