The Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee celebrated its inaugural Los Fresnos Cowboy Cook-off sanctioned by International Barbecue Cookers Association (IBCA) on Friday and Saturday, November 17 & 18, 2017.
IBCA had its humble beginnings in 1988 when nine interested parties gathered to begin a new BBQ organization in Irving, Texas.
Since membership in IBCA opened in 1989 the organization now boasts more than 700 members. IBCA sanctions competition events in five regions across the State of Texas and Los Fresnos hosted its first ever on Friday and Saturday, November 17 & 18, 2017.

Thirty seven teams came out to test their BBQ cooking skills and a shot at the prizes. Many were also there just to take a load off and enjoy the attractions. In addition to the BBQ competition there was plenty for the entire family. There were food & beverage vendors, arts & crafts vendors, plenty of fun for the kids and live entertainment.
