New Beauty Shop Gives Area Residents More Choices

A beauty/barber shop held its grand opening on Monday and residents have more choices when it comes to taking care of such particular needs.
Roxi’s Hair, Makeup Plus More invited the community to thank them for their support by having a ribbon cutting that included snacks, music played by a DJ and other amenities at the business located in the towns newest plaza on North Arroyo Boulevard.
”We first opened in September,“ Roxanna “Roxie,” Moreno, the shop owner, said. “Business has been going good for us.”
She said she never thought of having her own business until she decided to take an extra step using her savings.
Mayor Polo Narvaez said small and mom-and-pop shop businesses are the backbone of the community.
“We try to help them as much as we can because, to me, this is important,” he said. “We like to encourage people to stay and to shop in Los Fresnos.”
Roxi’s is one of about 15 beauty shops, meaning there is one in such shop per every 443 people based on the city’s population of 6,651.
And in the words of a local official, that many beauty shops helps keep the people looking pretty.
