The quality of life is getting better for residents of Los Fresnos as the town is getting its first community park.
Located on west Ninth Street, the park has been under construction for several months and it’s now more than 50 percent complete.
City Manager Mark Milum and Anna Alridge Smith, with the engineering company Hanson Professional Services, said the recreational facility will have barbecue grills, a playground for children and an aesthetics landscape.
Alridge said the lot was donated by a local family and money for the project came from the city and from a grant program administered by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department.
TPWD allocated $75,000 while the city invested another $75,000.
Alridge said the park’s general layout is done.
“They need to put the playground in and to work on the landscape,” she said. “They will also be installing solar panels for the lighting system.”
Alridge said the park will be a nice addition to the city.
Several residents who live nearby the community park said people have been stopping by their homes asking when the park will open.
