A local woman who previously believed her life was kind of meaningless has been named a role model after making a drastic change for the better.
Samantha Rodriguez met Friday, March 2 with the same people she participates in a program called Community Health Outreach that offers a variety of things such as exercises, nutrition classes and screening all at no cost to those who enroll in the program.
After 15 months of participation, Rodriguez shed 171 pounds and she now feels totally different.
“I did not think much about how my life was,” said the 28 years old woman. “But now, I feel I am a different person.”
Rodriguez said was able to reduce her weight through a combination of exercises, cutting down meal portions and buying and eating more fruits and vegetables.
She met at the city park with a group of people she has been getting together for more than a year.
Christina De La Rosa, who is in charge of running the program, said she meets with each participant on a one-to-one basis for support and follow-ups.
