Los Fresnos Pet Costume, Artisan Market is Saturday

Cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, mice, hamsters or any animal anyone considers as pet are welcome to attend this Saturday’s domestic or tamed animal contest.
But there is a catch: they must come prepared for the occasion.
That’s because Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce is hosting a pet costume contest to be held during the monthly Under the Stars Artisan Market.
Although cats and dogs are the most popular or commonly known pets people have, any kind of critter is eligible to enter the contest at Los Fresnos Memorial Park across from the high school on North Ocean Boulevard.
“We would like to see an array of animals,” Linda Lopez, a vendor coordinator with the chamber, said. “There will be prizes awarded to the top three places.”
She said the contest and the market event will take place this Saturday, April 28.
Lopez said there is no fee to enter the contest and emphasizes the Memorial Park is a pet friendly facility.
The artisan market is from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the costume contest around 6 p.m.
The market is a place where vendors set up booths and tables to sell food, plants, jewelry, art works and many other items.
Besides the market and the pet costume contest, a celebration to honor Mexico’s Children’s Day will take place as well.
“We will handing out candies and other goodies,” Lopez said. “We are inviting people from throughout the area to come on over and enjoy the festivities.”
