Angel Lucy’s Funeral Home is now open to the public here in Los Fresnos after an inspection by a representative of the Texas Funeral Service Commission was conducted.

The state agency regulates and licenses the death care industry in the Lone Star State and gave Angel Lucy’s the green light of approval on July 17.

The funeral home held a ribbon cutting on Friday, July 6.

Juan Sierra, the business manager and funeral director, said more than 300 people attended the event hosted by Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce.

“Everywhere was packed here,” he said. “Even the parking lot where we have plenty of spaces.”

Sierra said anyone can stop by to check out the services the funeral home offers as well as the facility.

The Los Fresnos native has more than 30 years in the funeral home industry, covering all aspects such as traditional, cremation and burial at sea services.

The building that houses Angel Lucy’s underwent a two-year renovation.

Funeral home personnel can’t discuss prices for any of the packages the business has until after the state licenses it.

But they can inquire about their services and other matters.

Based on interviews with other funeral home businesses, the average cost of burying the deceased averages from $5,000 to $7,000 in this part of the country.

Angel Lucy’s is owned by Cesar and Belia Ornelas.
