Anyone needing or donating food staples can stop by a box set up for that purpose.
Los Fresnos Church of Christ has installed a red box at 111 W. Fifth St. where residents, or anyone for that matter, can pick up or drop canned and other goods as needed.
“Take what you need, leave what you can,” reads a sign on the container church members call the Blessing Box.
The box was by the curbside but it was moved a little farther back because of the hot weather.
Dale House, the church pastor, said they installed the box back in August.
“It has been a success,” he said. “Sometime it’s half full and sometimes it’s not.”
Anyone is welcome to stop by to pick up a can of peas, beans or corn or other food or to drop by any food staple, providing it’s not something perishable.
The box is available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
