LFHS Band Receives “1” Rating; Qualifies for Area

The Los Fresnos High School Marching Band earned a rating of Division I at the 76th Annual Pigskin Jubilee Saturday in Weslaco.
A light rain did not dampen the spirits of the nine Region 28 Class 6A schools in attendance.
The Falcon band now qualifies for the UIL Class 6A Area G Marching Contest Saturday at the Bill Johnson Student Activity Complex in Laredo.
Twenty-seven bands representing Region 14, Region 15 and Region 28 from Laredo to Brownsville will be participating. Area G is one of nine Marching Band area competitions in the state.
Los Fresnos will perform at 11 a.m. Saturday. in the first group of nine schools. Results of the preliminary round will be announced at 5 p.m.
Ten schools will advance to the finals starting at 7:30 p.m. The top five bands will qualify for the State Marching Band Contest Nov. 5-7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Prelims for Class 6A schools will be held from 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Nov. 5, with finals scheduled from 2-5:30 p.m. Nov. 6.
