- Updated: October 26, 2018

Almost 2,400 students from three middle schools will take part in the 3rd Annual Middle Schools United Experience Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Los Fresnos United.
The guest speaker is Jonathan Medina, a former collegiate football player at Georgetown University. The Rio Hondo native is a nationally recognized Latino Motivational Youth Speaker.
The Experience is an opportunity for the students to receive exposure about LFU, which houses ninth- and tenth-grade students.
Students from Liberty Memorial, Los Cuates and Resaca middle schools will be visiting LFU on the following schedule:
- Sixth graders (836): 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31
- Eighth graders (802): 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31
- Seventh graders (751): 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1
The Experience is the only opportunity for the students from each grade level from each school to be together under one roof before they reach high school.
Students will see performances by Los Fresnos High School/LFU NJROTC, Stars Dance team, and Choir.
With an incredible story of overcoming adversity, Medina has made it his life’s mission to inspire students to dream big, and encourage parents and educators to play a vital role in empowering today’s youth.
Medina faced many hardships during his childhood. His mother was first incarcerated when he was in middle school and then again when he entered high school. Estranged from his biological father, Medina was raised by his grandfather, who was a migrant field worker.
