There is no need to go to Chicago or to the Mexican state of Sonora to grab some the world’s best known gourmet hot dogs.

Consumers can get them at Main Street Hot Dogs off Highway 100 in Los Fresnos.

More than a dozen of these link sausage sandwiches are now available at the eatery that opened for business a little more than a month ago.

Blanca de la Fuente, the shop owner, said they decided to go a different route because the taquerias and Mexican food restaurants are one too many in the area.

“My husband (Mario) went to Houston and saw how popular hot dogs are there.”

Main Street Hot Dogs has five gourmet, three signature and several regular hot dogs.

She said the Sonora Street hot dogs have been the most popular.

Such a meal originated in Hermosillo, Mexico, in the 1980’s and has become one of the best known hot dogs consumed today,

Although several versions are found today, this one is a beef frank, wrapped in bacon, has grilled onions and pickled jalapeños and diced tomatoes.

So anyone tired of having the same thing over and over should go out and try something different at Main Street Hot Dogs located at 32412 Johovana’s Plaza in Los Fresnos. For more information call (956)254-2222.
