Forty DECA Students Qualify for State Convention

Forty students from Los Fresnos High School and Los Fresnos United will take part in the 2019 Texas DECA State Career Development Conference in Dallas Friday and Saturday.

They will be among nearly 4,800 Texas DECA students and advisors. Students will take part in one of 50 different competitive events.

The LFHS/LFU students qualified for state at the district meet held in McAllen in January. Fifty-three students participated.

The state qualifiers included:

  • Seniors: Brianna Alex, David Maya, Jenessa Moya, Jorge Moya, Kayla Ortiz, Kristian Poy, Anahi Rodriguez, Emma Stambaugh, Enrique Valencia and Zoe Arriaga
  • Juniors: Manuel Bocanegra, Grecia Cano, Emmanuel Chavez, Abidas Garcia, Wilfredo Luiton, Darren Mora, Alexander Olguin and Andres Thomas
  • Sophomores: Antonio Espinoza, Jonathan Grimaldo, Danna Hernandez, Mallory Marquez, Micah Marque, Alondra Perales, Tate Halford, Osvaldo Perales, Marvin Prazelini, Christian Rodriguez, Yahir Soto, Karla Stambaugh, Stella Stambaugh,  Ishka Treviño and Adriana Yañez
  • Freshmen: Reiana Apacible, Josue Ceron, Andrea Iturbe, Sebastian Kishore, Kyle Londrie, Guillermo Medina and Aylin Villanueva

DECA sponsor Mindy Quiroz was the recipient of the Texas DECA Outstanding New Advisor and will be recognized at the conference.

Students will be competing for a chance to qualify for the International Career Development Conference at Orlando, Fla. April 27-30.
