NJROTC Receives “Never Say Quit” Award

Los Fresnos High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps received the “Marcus Luttrell Never Quit Award” during the 25th Annual Area 10 Navy JROTC State Finals held Feb. 22 at Texas A&M University in College Station.
The criteria for the award is based on the unit that displays the highest degree of military decorum, personal conduct, warrior spirit, motivation and never giving up. The award is determined by the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Staff and judges of the different events.
The award is to honor Marcus Luttrell, a Texas native and author of the New York Times bestselling book “Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10” the book was later adapted into the movie, “Lone Survivor,” where Mark Wahlberg portray Luttrell.
Los Fresnos High School was among 16 units competing at the meet also known as the Texas State Championship. Fifty students represented LFHS. The trip to state marked the 17th straight year that LFHS.
