Administrators and teachers from six schools were on hand Wednesday to receive their Honor Roll School awards by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP).
Los Fresnos CISD was one of only six school districts in Texas named to the Honor Roll. The District was one of only three to have received the honor all four years since the inception of the award in Texas in 2015-16.
The six Los Fresnos CISD schools named Honor Roll Schools represents 43 percent of the total number of campuses.
Four elementary schools – Laureles, Lopez-Riggins, Olmito, and Rancho Verde elementary schools – were among those receiving the school awards. Two of them – Olmito and Rancho Verde – were also named STEM honor roll schools.
Two middle schools – Liberty Memorial and Los Cuates – were also named to the Honor Roll.
Elementary administrators attending were Claudia Larrasquitu from LES, Oscar de la Rosa from LRE, Rosemary Leal from OES and Maria Elisa Pineda, who was principal at RVE last year. Secondary administrators attending were Annice Garza of Liberty Memorial Middle School Antonio Padilla of Los Cuates Middle School.
They are among 855 statewide higher-performing schools that are distinguished for their academic achievement and for closing achievement gaps.
The selection is the result of an extensive analysis of student data for every public school and school district in Texas.
The 2018-19 Honor Roll includes public elementary, K-8, and high schools that are recognized for demonstrating consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps. For high schools, Honor Roll recognition includes high college readiness in students.
