Los Fresnos, Texas — On Saturday, May 24th, Taqueria El Cien, a local restaurant in Los Fresnos, organized a community event. The event aimed to support local businesses and provide a fun-filled day for residents. As a husband of Kristina Torres (and in-law) Tomas Saenz Jr. says he is “married into this amazing family business.”

Tomas says he helps with the restaurant and managing its social media. Tomas is a proud Los Fresnos graduate as well.

The event was a celebration of entrepreneurship within the community. Residents were invited to enjoy delicious tacos while exploring various vendors’ offerings and activities. The short notice did not hinder the participation of several businesses who generously supported the event.

Notable contributions came from La Pale, who donated 100 free popsicles to the community. Brownsville Classics showcased their classic cars, adding a great show for many to see. Pronto Insurance and Medicare Educators set up canopies to offer support and educational resources. Parras Tamales and Restaurant impressed attendees with their delectable tamales. Mariposas Boutique, Vinyl Spinning Magic, Midnight Gewels, and The Terry’s displayed their unique clothing, jewelry, and vinyl records. Team Punisher and Looney Toons Racing delighted visitors with their impressive mud racing trucks. Angeles Bouncers provided a bouncer for children, ensuring a family-friendly atmosphere.

The event was a collaborative effort between Juan and Cristina Torres, the owners of Taqueria El Cien, Tomas Saenz Jr., his wife Cristina Yesenia Saenz, and his brother-in-law Jose Luis Torres. They worked together to coordinate with vendors, promote the event, and ensure its success.

Tomas expressed his satisfaction with the event’s outcome. As a first-time event coordinator, he was initially nervous, but the strong turnout and positive feedback from the community reassured him. The event provided an enjoyable experience for attendees, who had the opportunity to support local businesses and connect with fellow community members.

“This was my first attempt of coordinating an event, I was really nervous about the outcome. although I can gladly say it turned out great.” Saenz says, “We had so much fun. Our community showed up, hung out with us, and left very happy.”

While this year marked the inaugural event, Taqueria El Cien plans to continue hosting it annually, with aspirations for expansion and improvement in the future. The restaurant aims to provide an even better experience for Los Fresnos residents and strengthen its ties with the community.

Taqueria El Cien and the Torres family extend their gratitude to all those who attended, supported, and participated in the event. Their commitment to supporting local businesses and fostering community engagement is a testament to their dedication to Los Fresnos. They eagerly anticipate future opportunities to bring the community together and contribute to the town’s growth and vitality.

Lastly, Tomas shares their gratitude, saying, “We just want to say “thank you” to everyone that showed up and we are looking forward to seeing everyone on the next one. We are also very happy to be a part of this wonderful community.”
