32nd Annual Conjunto Festival to Take Place the First Week in October
- Updated: September 15, 2025

Get ready to put on your dancing shoes! The Narciso Martínez Conjunto Festival 2025 marks its 32nd annual celebration. Hosted by the Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Center, this event honors the tradition of conjunto music in the Rio Grande Valley. It will take place on October 3rd and 4th, 2025, at Los Fresnos Memorial Park, located at 900 N. Arroyo Blvd.
This two-day festival will feature live conjunto music, food vendors, cultural celebrations, and a strong emphasis on preserving the music genre created by Don Narciso Martínez. Widely regarded as the “Father of Texas-Mexican Conjunto Music,” Martínez is the namesake of this festival, which is dedicated to promoting and preserving the genre he helped pioneer and popularize in the Rio Grande Valley.
Martínez made his first recordings in 1936 with Bluebird Records, which helped bring conjunto music to a broader audience. Throughout his illustrious career, he recorded hundreds of songs that laid the foundation for what conjunto music would become. His fast and dynamic playing earned him the nickname “El Huracán del Valle” (The Hurricane of the Valley). In recognition of his contributions, Martínez received numerous honors, including induction into the Conjunto Music Hall of Fame in 1982 and a National Heritage Award from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1983. These accolades brought greater recognition to both the genre and its pioneer.
The Narciso Martínez Cultural Arts Center was founded in 1991 on Martínez’s 80th birthday, where he also performed at the opening. The annual festival ensures that his legacy and the genre he created are passed down to future generations, showcasing both new and veteran conjunto artists.
Go out and join in on the fun at the Narciso Martínez Cultural Arts Center’s 32nd Annual Conjunto Festival, taking place on October 3-4, 2025, at Memorial Park in Los Fresnos, Texas!
