As the road to District 32-6A Play Continues, the Los Fresnos Falcons boys basketball team took part in another tournament in preparation for a competitive District schedule.
The Falcons traveled to Huntington, Texas, which is about 6 hours and 45 minutes away from the Valley. A lengthy travel allows the Falcons to see a new, different level of talent to help get ready for District.
The Falcons opened up tournament play against Brookeland. A good performance by Los Fresnos allowed the Falcons to slip away and win game one 71-56. Game two saw the Falcons take on Pineywoods Community Academy out of Lufkin, Texas. The Falcons would play more agressive offense to win 59-36.
Day two saw Los Fresnos open up against Sabine Pass. The Falcons’ momentum from day one carried into the second day as the Falcons prevailed 75-28. The Falcons then looked to go 4-0 in tournament play as they took on LaPoynor. In a back and forth battle, Los Frenos slipped away late in the game and the Falcons fell 75-70.
Los Fresnos then faced off against Brookeland in day 3 action. In a rematch of day one, Los Frenos and Brookeland battled it out all four quarters. Unfortunately, Brookeland pulled away and won 61-58.
Los Fresnos wrapped up Tournament play for 2023-24 in the Huntington tournament. The Falcons finished their tournament participation with a 3-2 record. With only a handful of Non-District games left, the Falcons will continue to prepare and gear up for 32-6A play in January.
