Student volunteers enjoy Earth Day at Los Fresnos Nature Park

Special to Los Fresnos News

“There is ALWAYS something we can do every day to safeguard our planet and champion a greener future”. Los Fresnos coastal area residents, both adults and children are invited to the 2024 Earth Day outdoor event at 9 AM to noon at the Los Fresnos Nature Park, 851 North Arroyo, next to the Los Fresnos High School to participate in quality of life activities and learn more of what each one of us can do to bring a brighter and beautiful natural environment in our schools, business or homes.

1,000 EARTH DAY tote bags will be issued with snacks, native plant seedlings and coupons. Information booths will have flyers and leaflets on water conservation, plastics and cardboard recycling, composting, gardening of natural plants, protecting wildlife and many other subjects on “EARTH DAY is every day” including things we can do to help our environment. Fragile Planet Wildlife Park, Los Fresnos, and local businesses along with Los Fresnos CDC will be raffling free wildlife park tickets, 2 bicycles, as well as raffling native plants to plant at homes or schools.

An outdoor Children’s Story Walk hosted by our library will bring stories to the screens at the park. A Safari Bounce House provided by Coastal Events will expand children’s outdoor entertainment. Youth volunteers will host tours with binoculars to the butterfly and birding sites suited with wildlife water and feeding features in the park at 10 AM and 11 AM.

The City of Los Fresnos and Los Fresnos CISD partnership along with our many environmental and wildlife partners will be welcoming you to the Los Fresnos Nature Park. General parking will be at the Los Fresnos High School parking lot. For more information on this special event, contact the Los Fresnos CDC at 956-233-6182 or Desi Martinez at 956-778-8929.
