Los Fresnos CISD Takes Pride in their Students
- Updated: August 2, 2024

The Los Fresnos High School proudly announces that 50 students have been named College Board AP Scholars for the 2023-2024 school year. Twelve students have earned the title of AP Scholars with Distinction by achieving an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
Additionally, 13 students have been named AP Scholars with Honors, having achieved an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Furthermore, 25 students have been recognized as AP Scholars for earning scores of 3 or higher on three or more of the AP Exams.
Los Fresnos CISD and the community take pride in these students’ accomplishments and would like to extend their congratulations to the Falcons!
It’s worth noting that high school students worldwide take the AP Exams to gain college credits, challenge themselves, and explore their future interests.
The students’ AP exam scores can be used to earn college credits even before setting foot on a college campus, and, in some cases, they can skip introductory college classes.
The state legislature has funded student achievements and increased student AP performance and participation since 1993. The subsidies for AP Exam fees and reimbursements for a portion of the teachers’ training registration fees have been made available through the enactment of the AP-1B Incentive Program.
A grade of 3 or above is considered a passing grade, and students who pass more than one AP Exam are only counted once.
Los Fresnos CISD should take pride in the many accomplishments of its students this past school year, with 50 students being named College Board AP Scholars and the Superintendent of schools, Dr. Gonzalo Salazar, being named the 2024 Region One Superintendent of the Year.
There is no better way to end the school year than with the incentive and proof that hard work pays off. Once again, congratulations to all, and let’s continue the momentum for the 2024-2025 school year. The Los Fresnos High School Falcons are truly soaring high going into the new school year, thanks to the love and support of the community and family, who have always come together to accomplish great things.
