Los Fresnos CISD Kicks Off School Year with Empowering Convocation Pep Rally

Los Fresnos, TX – Los Fresnos CISD marked the start of the new school year with an invigorating Convocation staff pep rally, centered around the theme “The Power to Choose.”
The event, held in two dynamic sessions at the Los Fresnos United Dome, brought together all 1,700 LFCISD staff members in a celebration of the school year ahead.
The morning session was dedicated to campus staff, while the afternoon focused on all department personnel. Both sessions were designed to inspire and motivate employees by emphasizing the impact of their daily choices in shaping the educational environment for the students they serve.
Central to the day’s activities was the launch of the Leadership Los Fresnos CISD initiative, which underscores the district’s commitment to fostering a culture of growth and excellence. At the core of the initiative is the Los Fresnos CISD “Profile of a Leader”, which serves as the foundation for how leadership is defined within the District.
Dr. Gonzalo Salazar, Superintendent of Los Fresnos CISD, expressed enthusiasm about the new initiative. “The Leadership Los Fresnos CISD program is designed to provide our staff with opportunities for both personal and professional growth,” said Dr. Salazar. “By focusing on the core competencies of serving others, fostering growth, promoting innovation, and leaving a legacy, we are empowering our team to make impactful decisions and lead with purpose.”
A highlight of the event was an engaging panel featuring campus and department leaders discussing these core competencies. Panelists shared insights and personal experiences, offering valuable guidance on how to embody these principles in daily work.
“I challenge you to reflect on the impact you want to create and the legacy you wish to leave in your classrooms and/or departments,” said Deputy Superintendent for Operations & Principal Support Ada Amaro. “Your choices each day shape not only your professional growth but also the success of our students. Let’s embrace this challenge to create a district where everyone feels empowered to lead and contribute to something greater.”
Adding to the day’s atmosphere, a band composed of Los Fresnos CISD staff members performed a selection of lively songs, providing an energetic soundtrack to the event and showcasing the diverse talents within the district.
The convocation pep rally was not just a ceremonial start to the school year but a significant impact on the district’s success and the students’ educational experience.
“As the new school year unfolds, we hope our emphasis on “The Power to Choose” will continue to resonate throughout the district, driving a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaborative growth,” said Dr. Salazar.
