With summer break coming to an end and teachers returning to work, it is time to get students ready for the new school year. And like every year, the Los Fresnos CISD’s Family Engagement department organized an incredible Back to School event to help parents do just that.
“Ready, Set, Grow!” was this year’s theme for the Back to School Community and Safety Fair, which was held on Thursday, August 1st at the Los Fresnos High School. The Los Fresnos CISD along with community agencies and stakeholders came together to provide important and necessary resources, services, and supplies, like health screenings, backpacks, school supplies, and haircuts to the Los Fresnos community students.
Families lined up outside the high school, braving the heat and mosquitoes, to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. Community partners, school departments, and local businesses were set up inside the cafeteria and gymnasium ready to distribute their contributions and assist families in getting their students school ready. It was an amazing united effort and turnout! Listed below are some of the organizations that participated:
– City of Los Fresnos
– Los Fresnos Police Department
– Ethel Whipple Memorial Library
– Su Clinica Familiar
– BCFS Health & Human Services
– PapiCutz
– Roxi’s Hair Makeup Plus More
– Unkle Rick’s “El Catrín Barbería y más”
– Rotary Club of Los Fresnos
– Communities In Schools of Cameron County
– Walmart Supercenter Los Fresnos
– Stars Drive-In
– McDonald’s
– Law Offices of Javier Villarreal
– The Table of Los Fresnos
– Cameron County Public Health
– The Gathering at OCC
– and many others.
The Los Fresnos CISD shared, “The school community came together to celebrate and prepare for the new school year. We were thrilled that community sponsors provided free haircuts, backpacks, and school supplies to our students, ensuring they’re ready for a successful year ahead.
A heartfelt thank you to the Los Fresnos CISD Family Engagement for organizing this wonderful event, and to all the community organizations and agencies that partnered with us. Your support was invaluable and made this event truly special for our families.”
We wish all students and educators a great and safe 2024-2025 Academic school year!
