The 2024 Texas High School Football Season continues to be in full swing. After four weeks of play, seven teams remain undefeated in the Rio Grande Valley. However, one team still remains hot despite being derailed recently.

Los Fresnos began 2024 in a dominant fashion. The Falcons opened up the regular season with a huge victory over 5A powerhouse McAllen. What started as a tight 13-10 game at the end of the first quickly shifted in the Falcons’ favor as Los Fresnos scored 30 unanswered points all while shutting down McHi completely. The Falcons would win 43-10.

Los Fresnos then had their home opener as they hosted the McAllen Rowe Warriors. Shades of week one were on display as the Falcons once again dominated on both sides of the ball. The Falcons would go on to score seven touchdowns as they cruised to a 49-14 victory over Rowe.

The homestand continued for the Falcons as they took on Laredo United South. In what was their toughest game on the season, the Falcons did not score a touchdown until the third quarter. The Falcon offense then took off late in game and were able to survive a nail biter 34-33.

The Falcons in week four went on the road against the PSJA Bears. What started as a close game shifted Los Fresnos’ way as they led 17-10 at the half. The Bears came back and played lights out as they knocked off Los Fresnos 40-24. The Falcons’ offense struggled in the second half, only scoring one touchdown.

For the remainder of 2024, Los Fresnos will have two more matchups against Edinburg and Sharyland to wrap up non-district play.

Los Fresnos will have a bye week before opening up district play against the San Benito Greyhounds.
The Falcons despite a loss on the road, have the talent, an efficient offense, and power on defense to bounce back and continue the dominance that they displayed in Weeks 1-3.
