The Los Fresnos Lady Falcons have gone through the regular season and captured the 32-6A Title. Now it was time for the playoffs. The 2024 Class 6A State Playoffs were officially underway as of Monday, and it was time for Los Fresnos to start their postseason journey.

Due up for the Lady Falcons was a familiar foe, the Weslaco Lady Falcons. Having gone through great battles in district play for many years. However, that all changed when Weslaco was realigned to 31-6A as part of the Bi-annual UIL realignment. Last season, Los Fresnos and Weslaco met, with the Lady Falcons taking the win in both meetings.

Set one proved to be a reminder on how close the matchups were between these two teams. The Lady Falcons and Lady Panthers battled back and forth throughout the first set. A late surge of offense, followed by good team play allowed the Lady Falcons to capture set one 26-24.

Set two however was a completely different story. The Lady Falcons controlled the tempo of the game with pure dominance. Los Fresnos would shut down Weslaco and capture set two 25-13.

Now on the ropes, Weslaco knew their season was on the line. The Lady Panthers then came back and played more aggressively on offense. Despite a stronger push by the Lady Panthers, Los Fresnos would stand their ground and control the game in the late stages. Los Fresnos would come back to win 25-20, sweeping Weslaco.

The Lady Falcons captured the 6A Bi-District Title and move on to the Area Round where Cibolo Steele awaits them. The Falcons will look to carry this winning momentum against a very tough team in Cibolo Steele.
