LFCISD

Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District (LFCISD) has been actively engaging younger students through its “CTE on Tour” program, an initiative designed to introduce young learners to career and technical education (CTE) opportunities. Now in its eighth year, CTE on Tour continues to inspire students by offering hands-on experiences that spark curiosity about future career paths.

According to Rolando Guerra, LFCISD’s CTE Director, the district has conducted four CTE on Tour events during the current school year. These events are strategically held at four different elementary schools annually, ensuring that younger students receive early exposure to the various programs of study available within the district.

“The specific events involve promoting the CTE Programs of Study that we offer at LFCISD,” Guerra stated. “By exposing students to various CTE programs early on, we help them explore potential interests and career opportunities.”

CTE on Tour plays a vital role in shaping students’ educational and career choices by allowing them to engage with different fields through interactive experiences. The initiative is designed to ignite student interest in subjects such as engineering, health sciences, information technology, and other career pathways offered within the district.

Guerra emphasized the importance of introducing career options to students at a formative age. “This early exposure is crucial in shaping their educational and career choices in the future. Additionally, holding these events at elementary schools is particularly important as it reaches students at a formative age, encouraging them to think about their futures and the possibilities that lie ahead.”

By bringing CTE education directly to elementary students, LFCISD aims to create a lasting impact on career readiness and workforce development. Through programs like CTE on Tour, the district ensures that students are informed and prepared to make decisions that align with their skills and interests as they progress through their educational journey.
