Falcons battle in Area Round
By Ruben Rodriguez
Los Fresnos News
After catching a big win in the Bi-District Round, the Los Fresnos Falcons Boys Basketball team had punched their ticket to the Area round. Due up were the San Antonio East Central Hornets. Fresh off a win against Laredo Alexander, the Hornets were looking to continue their momentum against our Los Fresnos Falcons.
The Falcons have been a dominant squad as of late. Coming off a Bi-District win after capturing the 32-6A crown, the Falcons were ready to compete. The Falcons have seen action like this before. During the non-district portion, Los Fresnos competed in the Reagan Diamondbacker invitational in San Antonio, competing against teams from all across Texas. The experience certainly carved the Falcons into a tough ball club.
The Falcons and Hornets went to battle, unfortunately things didn’t start off right. The Falcons were able to bounce back and attempt to close the gap created by SA East Central. Despite a long battle, the Falcons found themselves behind as East Central would run away with the win.
Despite a tough fight given by the Falcons, the Hornets would maintain a tight grip on the lead and would go on to win 88-55.
An eventful season comes to an end for the Falcons. A lot of success for the Falcons in 2024-25, here are some of the highlights Los Fresnos accomplished. The Falcons would place high at the Santa Rosa and Hidalgo Tournaments. The main story was the Falcons bringing home the 32-6A District Title, as well as a Bi-District Title.
The Falcons would finish the season 27-9 with a 7-1 district record. The Falcons will finally have a well deserved relaxation in the offseason before the 2025-26 hoops season begins in October.
