Texas State Technical College (TSTC) has partnered with Toyota to create valuable job opportunities in the technology sector for dual enrollment students from Los Fresnos High School. The dual enrollment program, held at the TSTC Harlingen campus, aims to help students from Los Fresnos transition smoothly into TSTC’s mechatronics program.
Los Fresnos CISD provides students with a transformative educational experience through its Dual Enrollment Program, allowing them to take college-level courses while still fulfilling their high school requirements. This initiative serves as a crucial bridge to postsecondary education, giving students and their families insights into the expectations and standards of higher education in a supportive high school setting. Upon successfully completing these courses, students not only meet their high school graduation requirements but also lay a strong foundation for pursuing a rewarding college degree.
As they embark on this academic journey, it is essential for students to understand that enrolling in a dual enrollment class at Los Fresnos High School establishes a permanent college record. By taking on the role of a college student, all coursework will be recorded on their college transcript—an official document that plays a significant role in shaping their academic prospects and granting access to financial aid, college applications, and various educational opportunities in the future. This experience equips students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials necessary to excel in their academic and professional pursuits.
By participating in the mechatronics dual credit program through Los Fresnos and TSTC, students unlock incredible employment opportunities, especially with Toyota. Upon completing this comprehensive course, students can take an exam organized by Toyota, potentially leading to full-time positions within the company. Many graduates from TSTC’s mechatronics technology program have successfully seized these opportunities, embarking on fulfilling professional careers with full-time roles at Toyota.
