On Monday, March 17, 2025, the Los Fresnos CISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Gonzalo Salazar recognized students and staff for their achievements during the monthly Board of Trustees meeting.
Students Aulani and Luis Rodriguez from Los Fresnos United led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge.
The Los Fresnos High School Band Solo Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra were acknowledged for their accomplishments this year, particularly the Jazz Orchestra’s performance at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention in February. The TMEA Clinic/Convention, which includes jazz events, is held annually in San Antonio, Texas, typically in February. The 2025 convention took place from February 12-15 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
Mrs. Priscilla Castaneda, a teacher at Los Fresnos United, was honored by Noble Texas Builders as the Most Innovative Teacher for 2025. She was one of several finalists for this award, recognizing her innovative teaching methods. The Noble Texas Builders Teacher Externship Program is a transformative initiative to connect academic theories with practical industry realities in the ever-evolving job market. Over a 10-day intensive program, educators gain firsthand exposure to the construction industry, learning about current practices, technologies, and insights. This experience equips teachers like Mrs. Castaneda with valuable knowledge to share with their students, guiding them as they explore potential career paths after high school. By participating in this program, Priscilla is enhancing her skill set and empowering her students to envision their future in the workforce with confidence and creativity.
