Los Fresnos News
After a successful 2024-25 Regular Season, the Los Fresnos soccer Programs are now ready for the 2024-25 State Playoffs. The Lady Falcons captured a Co-District Title, and the Falcons captured the outright District Title.
For the Lady Falcons, who finished 7-1 in district, captured the Co-District Title after splitting the season series with Harlingen. Since both teams were each other’s only loss, that led to capturing a share of the title. The Lady Falcons, their playoffs will begin against the fourth seed of 31-6A, Edinburg Economedes. In what will be a familiar matchup, the Lady Falcons routed Economedes in the 2024 Bi-District Round 6-0.
The Lady Falcons are looking for a deep playoff run. In recent years, their Playoff runs have ended in the second or third rounds of the Playoffs. Last year, the Lady Falcons fell to San Antonio Taft 5-1.
For the Falcons, who went undefeated in District, are on a mission to continue that momentum heading into the postseason. The Falcons are set to take on a familiar foe in the bi-district round. The Falcons will meet Weslaco to begin their playoff run. In what will be the second meeting between the two, Los Fresnos defeated Weslaco after a 3-3 tie, which led to a PK Shootout.
Arguably the second biggest rival in District, this match will be more than just bragging rights as a trip to the Area Round is on the line.
Last season, Los Fresnos fell to Edinburg in the bi-district round. The Falcons now are determined to make a deep run in the 6A state playoffs.
