Fields of Faith Service Draws 500 Students, Families, Friends
- Updated: October 25, 2013
About 500 students, parents, and community members were on hand for the sixth annual Los Fresnos Fields service Wednesday at Leo Aguilar Stadium.
The interdenominational outreach event was sponsored by the Los Fresnos High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Musician Tyler Murphy, former lead singer of the band Price Hill, was the guest speaker. He spoke and his band played music for 30 minutes at the start of the service.
Three Los Fresnos High School students delivered testimony about how their faith has impacted their lives.
Speaking were seniors Josh Garza and Dalton House, both members of the Los Fresnos High School varsity football team, and senior Angela Rose Shante. Junior Audrey Urbis, a member of the cross country team, also spoke to the crowd.
Students Majo De Leon and Andy Hernandez, captains of the Los Fresnos FCA Huddle group, welcomed the audience at the start of the service.
With a modest beginning of several students gathered on the high school baseball field in 2006, the Los Fresnos Fields of Faith has since grown exponentially. Reflecting national movement, attendees of the Los Fresnos Fields of Faith will join more than 12,000 students on fields in the Rio Grande Valley and more than 200,000 students nationwide.
