Los Fresnos Teacher Announces Candidacy
- Updated: March 18, 2016
Los Fresnos — Los Fresnos High School teacher is running for Place 5 on the Brownsville Navigation District Board of Commissioners (otherwise known as the Port of Brownsville).
The public is invited to meet the candidate on March 20th at the Los Fresnos Community Center from 1-5pm. Free ice cream will be available in addition to games and activities for children.
The Port of Brownsille Board of Commissioners establishes policies, rules, rates, regulations, approves all contractual obligations, and governs the Port. Early voting for the election is April 25th-29th, and May 2nd-3rd at the Los Fresnos Community Center. Election day is May 7th at Los Fresnos High School.
Currently, the Port of Brownsville is ramping up fracked gas and oil exports that may include three LNG export facilities and more condensate exports resulting in massive infrastructures, pipelines, tankers, and rail deliveries of condensate through the RGV. Patrick Anderson is running for the Board of Commissioners to be a voice of and for the public to represent concerns of public health, public safety, and the environment.
Among his platform is for the Port to be more accountable for environmental impact through increased monitoring and assessment in order to minimize risk to the public. More information can be found at patrickTanderson.com.
