The Community Development Corporation of Brownsville was the guest speaker at the monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting held at Arnie’s Winghouse on Thursday, September 22.
The CDCB stated that many today live paycheck to paycheck and suffer from a cycle of chronic financial illness. Financial illness can be described as having low wages or inconsistent income streams, having no credit or damaged credit. This condition many times leads to susceptibility to predatory loan companies which is rapidly becoming a serious problem in the Rio Grande Valley.
The CDCB has programs to eradicate the need for these types of loans and assist people to good financial health. Good financial health is key to becoming a homeowner. The CDCB is helping hundreds of individuals and families to become homeowners in Cameron and Willacy Counties.
The CDCB offers several programs to help families build, finance or remodel their dream home. Programs available include self-help housing and even down payment assistance. For more information or to apply for a program please contact: Luciana Morales at (956)541-4955 ext. 117
