Schools to Honor Trustees at Jan. 16th Board Meeting
- Updated: January 13, 2017
by Ronnie Zamora/LFCISD
At many Los Fresnos CISD Board of Trustees meetings throughout the year, students are recognized for their achievements and meet board members at the start of meetings.
The shoe will be on the other foot when the Board of Trustees meets for its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16.
January is Board Recognition Month, and the seven trustees will be thanked in unique ways by representatives of the 14 district schools at the start of the meeting.
It’s the schools’ way to honor trustees for the selfless work they do to support students. Last year’s presentations included instrumental music, vocal music, poetry, paintings and humor.
Trustees and the schools that will recognize them are:
- Board President Darlene Pederson: Lopez-Riggins Elementary and Palmer-Laakso Elementary
- Board Vice-President Ruben Trevino: Los Fresnos High School and Liberty Memorial Middle School
- Board Secretary Jesus Amaya: Los Fresnos United and Las Yescas Elementary
- Board Assistant Secretary Leonel Garza: Laureles Elementary and Olmito Elementary
- Board Member Martin Castillo: Resaca Middle School and Dora Romero Elementary
- Board Member Ray Farias; Los Cuates Middle School and Los Fresnos Elementary
- Board Member Sandra L. Garcia: Rancho Verde Elementary and Villareal Elementary.
