Araceli Garza, a junior at Los Fresnos High School, has been selected to the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Choir.
At the Area G Choir Competition Saturday in Rockport, Garza earned Fifth Chair for the area, which includes Texas Music Education Association (TMEA) regions 13, 14, 15 and 28. The area includes a region southwest of Houston to include Victoria, and an area that includes Corpus Christi, Laredo, and the rest of south Texas and the Rio Grande Valley.
Garza, who competes as a Soprano I, qualified for area by placing among the top five students at the region level in November.
Garza’s selection marked the third straight year that a member of the LFHS Chorale received all-state honors. Kathleen Clark, a 2016 LFHS graduate, was named to the all-state choir during her junior and senior years.
